Frequently asked questions
Where do the rankings come from?
From your own Google Search Console. RareMatter shows the average position Google reports for each query your site appeared for, next to clicks and impressions. It does not run live rank checks, so it cannot show positions for searches you don't appear in yet, or your competitors' rankings.
How is average position different from a live rank check?
A live rank check looks at one search, from one place, at one moment. Search Console averages your position across the real searches where your page was shown, so it reflects what searchers actually saw. It can dip when you start appearing for new searches lower down, which the AI analyst points out.
How often is the data updated?
RareMatter syncs your Search Console data regularly. Google itself publishes it with a delay of about two days, so the newest days fill in shortly after.
How many keywords can I track?
There is no keyword list and no per-keyword pricing. The queries Search Console reports for each connected site are included, on every plan: 3 websites on Solo, 10 on Growth and 30 on Studio.
Do I need to connect Search Console?
For rankings, yes. Connecting it is free. Without it you still get the site audit, speed checks and Fix Studio, but no positions or clicks.
